i recently realized that due to my frugal reuse-whatever-i-find attitude, I don’t have a single 4k tv/screen. i set about fixing that, and in the process realized something I should have already been paying attention to: mac hardware continues to be great for linux machines well into their “find em cheap on ebay” years. you can find working 4k, 21″, imacs for less than $100 (seriously) on da bay. i’m gonna scoop one for my homelab (along with a sub $400 m2 mac mini for video edits) and one to use as my garage TV.
while on ebay, it’s also worth checking out macbook airs if you’re in the market for a highly portable, sleek, linux daily that you can bring everywhere and not worry about. they are built pretty solid, are ridiculously portable and can be had for ~$60. if you’re like me and are used to using outdated, unwieldy garbage laptops with minimal linux installs on them — these macbook airs are a serious upgrade. worth checking out, if you haven’t yet!
